How To Decorate Lilac Cookies With Royal Icing

 

Lilac cookie cutters I used Sweet Elite Tools cookie cutters Chefmaster food coloring Violet Rose Pink Lemon Yellow Leaf Green and Buckeye Brown Flood consistency royal icing in dark green light green dark purple and ivory Medium consistency royal icing in ivory Stiff consistency royal icing in ivory and yellow Decorating bags Decorating tips 2 77 and 1 Couplers Bag ties Scribe tool Acrylic board or baking sheet wrapped in parchment paper Decorator brush I used the brush from the Wilton 5 piece set Colors Light and dark green Leaf Green Lemon Yellow a touch of Buckeye Brown Light and dark purple Violet Rose Pink Ivory a touch of Buckeye Brown Yellow Lemon Yellow a touch of VioletInstructions1 Ice the leaf cookies with green flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2 2 Pipe veins with a lighter shade of green and a decorating tip 1 and use a scribe tool to help shape the icing 3 Ice the lilac cookies with the darker shade of purple flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2 and use the scribe tool to help shape the icing 4 Wrap an acrylic board or a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper 5 Fit a decorating bag with a decorating tip 77 6 Fill the bag with light purple stiff consistency royal icing 7 Pipe flowers on the parchment paper by squeezing and twisting the bag 8 Use a dry brush to pat down the centers You ll need between 125 150 flowers 9 While the cookies and flowers are drying outline a lace design on a vase shaped cookie with medium consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 1 10 Use a dry brush to help shape the icing 11 Fill in the design with flood consistency royal icing and a decorating tip 2 Use the scribe tool to help push the icing into the smaller spaces Allow the icing to dry for about an hour 12 Outline each eyelet and pipe other details with the medium consistency icing and a tip 1 Allow the icing to dry completely overnight is best 13 Remove the parchment paper from the board and use a spatula to remove the flowers 14 Arrange the cookies on a platter 15 Attach the flowers with a small dot of yellow stiff consistency icing and a decorating tip 1 Use dragee tweezers to help place the flowersPipe a yellow dot in the center of each flower If you enjoyed this tutorial check out some of my other videos Hi I m Amber My cookie decorating tutorials are filmed in my studio in upstate New York I m a graduate of the baking and pastry program at the Culinary Institute of America and I ve been decorating cookies professionally for over 12 years I love sharing my techniques and I post cookie decorating tutorials with step by step instructions here on my YouTube channel every week Let me know if you have any suggestions for upcoming videos Follow me on TikTok sweetambscookies Business inquires info sweetambs com
